Ben Stokes was born on June 4, 1991, in Christchurch, New Zealand. His father, Ged Stokes, was a well-known rugby league player and coach, while his mother was English. When Ben was 12, his family moved to England after his father became head coach of Workington Town rugby league club. Ben was raised in the small town of Cockermouth in West Cumbria, where he attended Cockermouth School and played cricket for the local club.
He has represented England in all three forms of cricket and is considered one of the team’s most valuable players. Stokes holds several records and is widely regarded as the best all-rounder of the decade. He played in the Indian Premier League for five years but withdrew his name from the TATA IPL 2022 to focus more on the national team. Stokes is 1.85 meters tall and will be 31 years old in 2022.
Although his parents later returned to New Zealand, Ben remained in England to pursue his cricketing career. He holds the Test world record for the most runs in an innings at number 6, scoring 258 runs against South Africa during England’s 2015-16 tour. In the same Test, he and Jonny Bairstow set the world record for the highest 6th-wicket partnership in Tests, with a score of 399. Unfortunately, Ben’s father, Ged Stokes, passed away in New Zealand on December 8, 2020, due to brain cancer.

Ben Stokes Cricket Career
Ben Stokes made his debut for Durham in 2009 at The Oval, and he managed to take the wicket of the experienced batsman Mark Ramprakash with only his third delivery in professional cricket. He also played in two youth tests against the Bangladeshi U-19 team in 2009, scoring a half-century and taking some wickets. He went on to play in the 2010 U-19 World Cup, where he scored a century against the Indian U-19 team.
In his debut first-class match for Durham against MCC at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, he scored his maiden half-century and took his first wicket. He also made his debut in the County Championship for Durham against Essex at the start of the 2010 season, where he scored his maiden first-class century against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge on May 13. Stokes also played for Durham in the Clydesdale Bank 40-over competition.
Due to Durham’s injury problems at the start of the 2010 season, Stokes played regularly in all forms of the game. He had a successful debut season in first-class cricket, which earned him a call-up to the England Performance Programme, and he traveled to Australia for the 2010-11 Ashes series.
