Deepika Padukone is an Indian actress and one of the highest-paid actresses in India. She has won three Film fare Awards and has been named one of the most famous personalities in the country. Time magazine also named her one of the hundred most powerful people in the world in 2018. She was born on January 5, 1986, in Copenhagen, Denmark, to parents who speak Konkani.

Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a former world-renowned badminton player, and her mother, Ujjwal, runs a travel agency. She has a younger sister named Anisha who is a golfer. The family moved to Bangalore, India, when she was one year old. She attended Sophia High School and Mount Carmel College for her pre-university studies, but left Indira Gandhi National Open University due to scheduling conflicts with her modeling career.

Deepika Padukone’s father, Prakash Padukone, was a former badminton champion of India. She was also a national level badminton player until the age of sixteen, after which she pursued a career in fashion and modeling. She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark but grew up in Bangalore.
