Hema Malini is an Indian actress, director, producer, and politician, known for her work in Hindi films. She has acted in many popular films and is known as the Dream Girl of Hindi cinema. She made her debut in 1963 and first acted in a lead role in 1968. Hema frequently acted opposite Dharmendra, whom she married in 1980. In 1977, she starred in a film called Dream Girl. She is currently serving as a member of Lok Sabha representing Mathura constituency since 2014 and was a member of Rajya Sabha from Karnataka from 2011 to 2012 and nominated from 2003 to 2009 as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
During her career, Hema Malini has won several awards and honors for her contribution to Indian cinema. She has received eleven nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, winning the award in 1973. She has also won the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000 and the Filmfare Special Award in 2019 for 50 years of outstanding contribution to cinema. In addition, she has been honored with the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honor awarded by the Government of India, and conferred an Honorary Doctorate by the Sir Padampat Singhania University in 2012. Hema has served as the chairperson of the National Film Development Corporation and has received the Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts (SaMaPa) Vitasta award and the NTR National Award for her contribution to Indian cinema. Malini has also been involved in charitable and social ventures and is a life member of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

Hema Malini Career
Malini had acted in small roles in films like Pandava Vanavasam (1965) and Idhu Sathiyam (1962). However, her breakthrough role came in 1968, when she was chosen to play the lead opposite Raj Kapoor in Sapno Ka Saudagar, which earned her the title of Dream Girl. Malini went on to establish herself as a leading actress with roles in successful films like Andaz (1971), Lal Patthar (1971), Seeta Aur Geeta (1972), Sanyasi, Dharmatma, Pratigya, Sholay, Trishul, and many others.
Malini’s on-screen chemistry with Dharmendra was widely appreciated, and they acted together in several films such as Sharafat, Patthar Aur Payal, Sholay, Trishul, and Dillagi. Her pairing with Rajesh Khanna was also popular, with successful films like Andaz and Prem Nagar. In the 80s, Malini continued to act in big-budget films like Kranti, Naseeb, Satte Pe Satta, and Rajput, most of which were commercially successful. She continued to work in heroine-centric roles after becoming a mother, in films like Aandhi Toofan, Durgaa, Ramkali, Sitapur Ki Geeta, Ek Chadar Maili Si, Rihaee, and Jamai Raja.
In addition to her acting career, Malini also ventured into producing and directing films like Dil Aashna Hai (1992) and Mohini (1995). She also appeared in guest roles in films like Veer-Zaara (2004) and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag (2007) and supporting roles in Baabul (2006) and Sadiyaan (2010). Her latest film is Shimla Mirchi (2020), starring Rajkummar Rao and Rakul Preet Singh.
