Her father is a restaurateur who runs a chain of 10 restaurants and her mother is a housewife. She has three brothers, including actor Saqib Saleem. Her family moved to Kalkaji, South Delhi, when she was a child. Qureshi obtained a bachelor’s degree in History with Honours from the Gargi College—University of Delhi, and later joined Act 1 theatre group where she performed in several theatre productions mentored by N.K Sharma. She has also worked with several NGOs and assisted a documentary filmmaker.

Huma Saleem Qureshi is an Indian actress, model and producer known for her appearances in Hindi language films. She has been nominated for three Filmfare Awards. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Delhi, while also working as a theatre actor and model. She moved to Mumbai and signed a two-year contract with Hindustan Unilever to appear in television commercials. Her acting ability was noticed by Anurag Kashyap during a Samsung mobile commercial shoot, and she was offered a three-film deal with his company.
Qureshi made her film debut in the 2012 crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur and received several nominations for her performance, including for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and Best Supporting Actress. She also appeared in the romance Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana and Ek Thi Daayan in the same year. Qureshi played leading roles in Shorts (2013), Dedh Ishqiya (2014), and supporting roles in Badlapur (2015) and Highway (2015). She made her web series debut with Leila in 2019, and was praised for her portrayal of the character of Rani Bharti in the SonyLiv web series Maharani.

Huma Qureshi Career
Huma Qureshi started her acting career by appearing in TV commercials, including one with Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan for a mobile phone. During the filming of a Samsung phone commercial, Anurag Kashyap promised to cast her in his film. Later, Kashyap offered a deal for three films, which Qureshi accepted. Her acting debut was in the 2012 movie “Gangs of Wasseypur-Part 1” where she played the character of Mohsina, receiving critical acclaim for her performance. She reprised the same role in the movie’s second installment, “Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 2,” which also received positive reviews.
Qureshi completed her three-film contract with Anurag Kashyap Films by appearing in “Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana,” a romantic comedy, the same year. In 2015, she appeared in the crime thriller “Badlapur” alongside Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. She also appeared in the collaborative film “X” that same year. Her Malayalam film debut was in the 2016 film “White,” in which she starred alongside Mammootty in two roles. The movie received mostly negative reviews upon its release.
