She was born in Mahim, Mumbai, to a Goan Catholic family, and spent her childhood in both Mumbai and Goa. When she was ten years old, her family moved to Parra, Goa. She created her first modeling portfolio in January 2003 after being encouraged by the hotel manager at her mother’s workplace to meet with Marc Robinson, although she was initially hesitant and described her first portfolio as a “catastrophe.”
Ileana D’Cruz gained attention through modeling, photo shoots, and ramp shows. Her second modeling portfolio led to three commercials and offered her multiple roles in feature films. Ileana D’Cruz is affectionately called “Illu” by her family. Her father, Ronaldo D’Cruz, is a mechanical draftsman, and her mother, Samira, is a designer. They moved from Mumbai to Parra, Goa, when she was 10 years old. Ileana attended St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School and College in Goa for primary education and the University of Mumbai for secondary education. She started her modeling career by creating a disastrous first portfolio and then improved it by participating in photo shoots and ramp walks, leading to three commercials.
Ileana made her Bollywood debut in the movie “Barfi,” which was directed by Anurag Basu and was a commercial success. Her performance in her next film, “Phata Poster Nikla Hero,” received mixed reviews. D’Cruz has since appeared in several movies, including “Raid,” “Amar Akbar Anthony,” and “Pagalpanti.” Due to Covid-19 restrictions, her appearance in “The Big Bull” has been postponed, and she has completed shooting for “Unfair and Lovely.” These two films are set to be released in 2021.
