Rohit Sharma, born on 30 April 1987, is an Indian cricketer who is currently the captain of the Indian national cricket team and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. He is a right-handed opener and plays sporadically as a right-arm off break bowler. Sharma has led Mumbai Indians to win the IPL a record five times. He has set many records, including scoring three double centuries in one-day internationals and holding the record for the highest individual score of 264 in a one-day international match. Sharma has won several national awards, including the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna in 2020 and the Arjuna Award in 2015. He is also known for his advocacy of animal welfare and is a member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
