Sridevi, a Bollywood actress, and her daughter traveled to Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates to attend a family wedding. She stayed back in Dubai for a few days to shop for her eldest daughter’s birthday. On the morning of 24 February, Sridevi spoke to her husband Boney Kapoor, who had planned a surprise visit to her in Dubai. They met and chatted for a while before planning to have dinner. Sridevi went to get ready for dinner, but Boney was unable to get a response from her after calling out to her. Later that evening, Sridevi was found

dead in her hotel room. The initial announcement stated that she died of a cardiac arrest, but an investigation revealed that the cause of death was “accidental drowning” with traces of alcohol found in her body and water in her lungs.

After taking a break from acting for 15 years, Sridevi made a comeback with the movie “English Vinglish” in 2012, playing the role of a housewife who enrolls in an English-speaking course. The movie was highly acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, and Sridevi was praised for her outstanding performance. This marked her successful comeback as a leading lady after marriage and a long hiatus. Sridevi went on to act in several other movies, including “Mom” (2017), which earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress. Her last on-screen appearance was in a cameo in Aanand L. Rai’s film “Zero” (2018), and she had signed up for two more movies before her untimely death in 2018. Sridevi was not only an actress but also a painter and a member of the board of directors at the Asian Academy of Film & Television.
